Worcester, MA- Kicking off the 2024-25 Indoor season saw the Worcester State Men's Indoor Track and Field team on the track at Wesleyan for their first meet of the season. Senior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) left off exactly from last year with two top finishes while sophomore Jackson Bolduc (Auburn, MA) would grab another top three finish for the Lancers to lead the day.
Jacques would begin his winning ways early as the sole Lancer finisher in the 60m finals, where he claimed first in a blistering 6.99. He would add a second first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.50m.Competing alongside Jacques in the pit was junior Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA), who finished in 10th with a 5.83m, first years Anthonio Tyndale (Worcester, MA) in 12th with 5.78, James Almeida (Auburn, MA) with 5.65m and seniors Nicholas Violette (Webster, MA) and Giovanni Casiano (Oxford, MA) in 15th and 16th with distances of 5.39m and 5.34m. Joining the pit gain was first year Michael Mireku (Worcester, MA) who claimed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.24m.
In the throwing pit the Lancers were on point as sophomore Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) would claim fourth on 12.72m in the shot put and ninth with a 12.63m in the weight throw. Senior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) would also do double duty with a 13th place finish in the shot and weight at 11.58m and 10.88m. First year Galvin Delgao (Douglas, MA) would claim 10th in the shot put on a 11.89m as first years Dominc Beauchesne (Dudley, MA) and Hunter Cormier (Westminster, MA) claim 24th and 25th on 9.07m and 8.94m just behind senior James Bourke in 23rd at 9.10m. Back at the weight sophomore Danny Butler (Tyngsboro, MA) would claim 12th on 11.06m while junior Andrew Lucier (Gardner, MA) would come away with 19th on 9.10m
Back on the track, many of the jumpers competed in the 200m which was led by first year Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) in 15th at 24.31 and sophomore Tyshawn Craigg (Springfield, MA) in 18th at 24.66. First year ALbert Kyereme (Springfield, MA) would claim 24th with a time of 25.04, just edging out Violette in 26th at 25.42 and first year Keaton St. Laurent in 29th at 25.66. Rounding out the Lancer sprinters was junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) in 30th at 25.77 and first year Cole Berriault (Wareham, MA) in 31st at 25.81. Berriault would continue to find success in the 400m coming in 9th with a time of 57.41 as fellow first year Taku Pettengill (Shirley, MA) would claim 6th in a time of 55.66. Crossing just behind both was senior Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) in 10th at 57.81 and junior Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) with a time of 58.61.
As the longer distances hit, the finishes did not diminish as first year Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) would claim 13th in the 600m with a time of 1:40.68 and in the 800m first year Ryan Brown (Salem, MA) showed his distance strength with a 5th place finish in a time of 2:19.14, just edging out junior Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA), who finished 6th in a time of 2:25.10. Bolduc would show his strides in the 1000m, where he claimed his second place finish in a time of 3:00.08 before the rest of the cross country team showed they were still in shape, finished in a pack between 9th and 15th. Senior Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) would claim 9th in a time of 10:12.98 as first year Dan Smith (Medway, MA) would come in 12th at 10:30.52 and sophomore Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA) finished in 14th at 10:37.94 and Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) would take 15th in a time of 10:44.68.
Worcester State will be back in action on January 25th when they head back to Wesleyan for the Winter Indoor Invite.
