Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Teams claim third in the MASCAC Preseason Poll voted on by the conference coaches. The Lancers will be led in their championship quest by seniors Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) and Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA), junior Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA), sophomore Jadah Stokes (Chicopee, MA).
On the Men’s side, Bridgewater State would claim the top spot with nine points and three first place votes, just ahead of Westfield with seven points and one first place vote. Fitchburg State and Worcester State would claim a tie for third with four points apiece. Jacques beat out the competition in the 60-meter dash by a one hundredth of a second in 7.07 to win the title at last year’s championship for the Lancers.
For the Women, there was a flip at the top as Westfield would take the top spot with nine points and three first place votes and Bridgewater would claim second with seven points and a single first place vote. Worcester State comes in third in this year’s poll with five points. In her first season with the Lancers, Jadah Stokes came home with two champion medals after finishing first in the shot put (11.48m) and the weight throw (13.90m). Fitchburg State would claim the final spot with three votes to round out this year’s voting.
The indoor season begins on Saturday, December 7 when Bridgewater State competes at the Early Bird Invitational, Fitchburg State and Westfield State head to Springfield College for their invitational and Worcester State will compete at the Wesleyan Winter Invite.
