Ingraham, Pepin Named To MASCAC All-Sportsmanship Cross Country Team

Westfield, MA – Seniors Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) and Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) have been selected to the MASCAC All-Sportsmanship team as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.

The accolades for Ingraham and Pepin are the icing on the cake for both student-athletes, who have had strong individual campaigns for their respective squads.

Ingraham has emerged as the third runner on the women's team.

Midway through the year, she placed 14th individually at the Worcester City Meet to help lead the Lancers to second place and two weeks later, she beat out 424 other runners at the Westfield State James Early Invitational for 98th place with the Blue and Gold earning 13th overall.

"Her dedication, hard work and commitment have really come to fruition this season," said head coach Gary Jusseaume. "Maggie is well deserving of this award; it underscores her attitude and dedication to the program."

She placed 17th at the MASCAC Championships en-route to helping the Lancers take home a top four finish in third place for the eighth consecutive campaign.

Throughout the 2014 season, Pepin has been a consistent top seven performer for the Blue and Gold.

Among the top 45 in both races, he was the sixth point scorer at this year's Worcester City Meet pacing the men to fourth overall and seven days later, he was the fifth runner, helping the Lancers place sixth at the CCRI Tri-States Championship.

"Adam meets the very definition of sportsmanship in the way he carries himself, acts and competes," said head coach Al Halper. "He works hard during the season and is always there to help out."

Pepin was the third runner for the Lancers at the MASCAC Championships, crossing the finish line in 27th out of 116 competitors while propelling his club to fourth overall for the third straight season.

Honorees are selected by the coaches from their respective teams. The coaches also vote on one of their peers to be selected to the team.

Worcester State wraps up their 2014 campaign on Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Qualifier hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock.
