Cross Country Runs New England Regional

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Worcester State University men's and women's cross country teams rounded out its 2019 season on Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Regional at Pickard Fields.

The women's team finished in 19th place overall out of 54 teams in the 6k, while the men place 22nd out of 54 teams in the 8k.

Sophomore Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.) was the top Lancer finisher on the women's side with a time of 22:48.7 to finish 52nd overall. Senior Megan Foley (Orange, Conn.) crossed the line second with a time of 23:39.9 for 109th place. 

In third for the Worcester State women was 135th place finisher Kasey Clark (Dudley, Mass.), who ran a time of 23:58.1. Rounding out the Lancer scorers were junior Kyra Siano (North Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Erica Hanlon (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who finished in 153rd and 202nd respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the way for the Lancers with a 65th place finish and a time of 26:17.1. Classmate Wayne Carey (Shrewsbury, Mass.) crossed the line second in a time of 27:07.7. 

Junior Brian King (Stow, Mass.) was third for the Lancers, crossing the finish line in 27:23.5 for 143rd place. Ben Morin (New Braintree, Mass.) and Richie Custodio (Wakefield, Mass.) rounded out Worcester State's scores with times of 28:06.3 and 28:06.5 to finish back to back in 185th and 186th.

The majority of the Worcester State cross country teams will begin training for their indoor track & field season, which begins with the Emmanuel College Invitational on December 7.
