Westfield, MA --- Junior Meghan Rich (Chelmsford, MA) has been named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding effort in a sweep over Mass Maritime this past Sunday.
In the opening game of their conference series, Rich fired a one-hit, five inning shutout with nine strikeouts in a 13-0 victory over the Buccaneers.
The effort marked the second time she blanked an opponent as she permitted just one hit on March 19 in Florida en-route to an 8-0 victory, five inning triumph against Lancaster Bible.
On the campaign, Rich is tied atop the league leaderboard in victories with a 4-0 record while she is fifth in strikeouts, tenth in earned runs allowed (11) and among the top 15 in earned run average (3.45).
Nearly three years removed from establishing the school and rookie record for walks allowed in a single campaign (10 BB – 102.0 IP), Rich could match the effort in 2015. She has issued just four free passes in 22.1 frames of work.
In her two-plus season career as a Lancer, Rich is 20-14 in 218.1 innings with 132 strikeouts and 34 career walks which include 21 complete games (six shutouts) in 44 appearances.
