Final

Game 1

Worcester State: 4

WPI: 7

Game 2:

Worcester State: 0

WPI: 7

How it Happened:

Both teams would see stout pitching result in scoreless opening innings as the Lancers got close to bringing runners home in the second inning but the Engineers were able to get three outs stranding the runner in scoring position for the Lancers. Worcester would score first in the third inning when junior Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) would bring in senior Jordan Geloso (Rutland, MA). This would be followed by two more runners coming home after a junior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA) double. The score would settle at 3-0 before WPI would work their way back into a tie game up by the bottom of the fourth. Errors abounded for the Engineers in the top of the fifth as they loaded the bases allowing a junior Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) fielder's choice single to send across Lapoint. WPI would reclaim the tie in the bottom of the sixth inning to carry a 4-4 and then found run five, six and seven to grab a three run lead into the seventh where the Engineers held on for the game one win.

Game two would find another scoreless first inning for both teams as the Lancers looked to grab the game two win. The stalemate would carry into the third before WPI was able to grab the first runs of the game to carry a 3-0 lead into the fourth. The Engineers would tack on an additional run in the fourth and two in the fifth to carry a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth. The Engineers would grab a single shot in the bottom of the sixth and hold on to take the 7-0 win.
