Katie Roy enters her third year as an assistant coach for the Lancers’ softball team.

This past year, Roy assisted her team to an 18-18 overall record and a 9-5 record in the league. The Lancers claimed the No. 4 spot in the MASCAC tournament, and made it to the semifinals round.

In 2016, Roy helped her team to its second-consecutive MASCAC regular season championship and also guided the team to the MASCAC Tournament Championship, in turn, receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Regional Tournament for Worcester State’s second-ever appearance.

Roy primarily works with the pitchers, and worked side-by-side with 2016 and 2017 MASCASC All-Conference recipient, Dakota Smith-Porter. She also worked with the 2016 MASCAC Tournament MVP and Second Team All-Conference, Meghan Rich.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at Worcester State, Roy has worked diligently to improve athletics in the city of Worcester. She teaches pitching lessons privately and has volunteered work with local little leagues introducing pitching to young girls.

Roy has worked especially hard with her former high school, working as a field hockey coach for the past three seasons and working with the softball program in previous seasons. She also works with the Worcester Field Hockey program, teaching field hockey to young girls.

Roy played for the Worcester State Softball team and for the Burncoat High School softball team where she achieved WTAG player of the week on multiple occasions and Inter-High All Star status.

Roy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Psychology from Worcester State and currently teaches English and AVID at her alma mater, Burncoat High School.
