Perez Earns MASCAC, WACBA Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Nani Perez (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) has been selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Rookie of the Week for her outstanding efforts in a victory over Framingham State last week.

Perez dealt a season-best 10 assists while finishing with seven points, two boards and one swipe in a 64-52 win over the Rams.

Among MASCAC leaders, Perez is second in the conference in assists per game (4.2 APG) and total helpers (82) while her assist to turnover ratio of 1.1 per contest is fifth among those with over 500 minutes played.

The duo of Perez and freshman Allie Lake (Westport, MA/Bishop Stang) at the point helped the Lancers post the second highest assist total in the MASCAC at 15.3 per game which is on pace for the highest sum since the 2001-02 campaign (16.15 APG).

The honor for Perez marks her second of the season after she received the nod with MASCAC Rookie of the Week laurels on January 12 for pacing the Blue and Gold to a trio of wins.

The Lancers (12-7, 3-3 MASCAC) have two games over the next week as they are tied for third in the league after the first loop of round-robin play. WSU entertains MCLA today at 6 before taking on Salem State on Saturday on the road in a 1 PM tip-off.
