Frankian Wraps Up Career In NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic

Northampton, MA --- Senior Julie Frankian (Millbury, MA) recently ended her Worcester State women's basketball career by playing in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic at Smith College this past weekend.

Frankian leaves behind a solid three-year legacy that includes a First-team nod to the All-MASCAC team and consecutive appearances in the MASCAC Tournament, with a berth to the league playoff semifinals in her senior year

En-route to the sixth-highest output in a single season in WSU women's basketball history (417 points), Frankian averaged 15.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds to go with a .421 field goal percentage, a .823 free throw percentage and she canned a .437 clip from beyond the arc.

Frankian reset a 15-year program standard with 62 made trifectas to lead the MASCAC while she also had the second in free throw percentage, third in the conference in scoring average and made free throws and eighth in field goal percentage.

Her rebounding average was 15th overall and sixth among guards in the league.

For helping pace WSU with a first-round home game and the third-seed in the MASCAC Tournament, Frankian was also tabbed to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week in the last week of the regular season.

In the final NCAA Division III statistical standings, Frankian's three-point shooting percentage was at the top for most of the campaign and she ended the year ranked seventh in the nation and second in New England.

With a remarkable .838 career free throw percentage, Frankian established a new record for those with over 200 attempts besting the previous mark by former standout Rachel Odugbela (.735 – 2003-07).

Other MASCAC representatives on the NEWBA Senior Classic squad included senior Megan Boutilette (Charlton, MA) of Bridgewater State and senior Rachel Carter (Merrimac, NH) of Salem State.

Frankians selection to the NEWBA All-Star game marks the fourth year in a row that a WSU student-athlete has been chosen to play by the regions head coaches as those in the past have included former standouts, Meaghan Burns (2013-14), current assistant coach Meaghan O'Keefe (2012-13) and Kaleigh Charette (2011-12).

Worcester State ended the season with an overall record of 17-10 (7-5 MASCAC), tying for third in the league regular season standings and made an appearance in their 26th straight conference tournament.
