Maglione Earns MASCAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman guard Sam Maglione (Lancaster, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rookie of the week as announced by the league Monday (Jan. 8) afternoon.

 

During the week of Jan. 1-7, Maglione averaged 12.5 points while shooting 60% (9-15) from the field and 63.6% (7-11) from the three point line with 1.5 rebounds and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Lancers.

 

Maglione matched a career-high 14 points, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc with two rebounds and an assist in the 73-58 win over Keene State and collected 11 points, a rebound and an assist in the 65-57 setback to Salem State.

 

Currently this season, Maglione is averaging 6.9 points per game and is a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

 

The women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 10) as they travel to Framingham State for a 6 p.m. MASCAC game.
