WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman guard, Sam Maglione (Lancaster, Mass.) has earned the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's basketball Rookie of the Week award, as announced by the league Monday (Jan. 22) afternoon.
This past weekend, Maglione led all Lancers in scoring with 26 points, going 9-for-14 (.623) from the field and 6-for-11 (.545) from 3-point range in the 74-63 win over Fitchburg State. She also picked up two rebounds and two steals in the win.
The rookie is currently averaging 8.2 points per game and 17.4 minutes per game.
The women's basketball team returns to action tomorrow (Jan. 23) when they host Bridgewater State in a 5:30 p.m. affair.
