Women's Golf Opens Season at Rhode Island College

WARWICK, R.I. - Freshman Anna Billings (Meriden, Conn.) carded a 97 in her first collegiate match as the Worcester State University women's golf team fell 395-505 to Rhode Island College at Valley Country Club on Sunday afternoon.

Billings' 97 was good for a second place tie on the afternoon, matching the scores of Rhode Island College's Jean Marie Arnold and Kelsey Hinchcliffe. Megan Mahan carded a 92 to take individual honors on the day. 

Junior Olivia Antonelli (Westford, Mass.) shot a 120 in her opening round of the season, with freshman Katie Sobkowiak (Northbridge, Mass.) recording a 139. Rounding out the scores on the was junior Amanda Hoffey (Oakham, Mass.), who shot a 149 in her first collegiate match. 

Next up for the Lancers, they will play in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships on Cape Cod beginning on Saturday.
