Mullen, Doherty Receive Nod  IWLCA Academic  Honor Roll

 

Oxford, OH --- Senior teammates Rebecca Mullen (Peabody, MA) and Stacey Doherty (Westford, MA) were recently honored with Division III Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll accolades as announced by league publicist Chip Rogers.

To be named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll one must be nominated by their coach, maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and achieved at least junior status academically. 382 student-athletes from 67 different institutions were honored in Division III including 82 student-athletes from 24 schools from New England.

Rochester Institute of Technology and Middlebury had the most with eight while the Blue and Gold were among five public institutions regionally with two or more student-athletes recognized.

Mullen and Doherty both helped lead the Lancers this past season to a program record 13-6 mark, the MASCAC Tournament Semifinals and their first ECAC Division III New England Tournament Semifinals appearance since 2007.

Mullen, who was also recognized with National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholar of Distinction honors, graduated with a GPA of 3.93 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Mullen was heavily involved on campus and also served as the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Doherty, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.66 in her four seasons on the women's lacrosse team, walked across the stage majoring in Business Administration. Along with Mullen, the pair helped host a girl's lacrosse clinic this past April teaching skills with nearby Doherty High.
