Buzzards Bay, MA ---  Sophomore Kaila Chase (Northbridge, MA) netted four goals and four assists for eight points while fellow classmate Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) added four markers and three helpers to finish with seven points to lead Worcester State to an 18-4 MASCAC women's lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime this afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The Lancers (8-3, 3-1 MASCAC) broke a 3-3 tie by scoring seven goals over the final 19:50 of the opening half, including three off the stick of Connors and a pair from junior Molly Kilday (Westford, MA), to take a 10-3 advantage at the break.  Freshman Angelina Sutherland (Tyngsboro, MA) also sent in a pair of tallies in the opening 4:08 after intermission helped Worcester State extend that margin to 13-3 en route to its fourth straight triumph.

Sutherland finished with a hat trick and an assist for the winners, who also received two goals and two assists from both Kilday and junior Michelle Tully (Tewksbury, MA).  Senior Amy Tucker (North Attleboro, Mass.) added a pair of markers for the Lancers, who also received a goal and three assists from junior Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, MA).

Grassetti logged eight draws and seven ground balls to lead the visitors defensively and Sutherland added six draw controls. Kilday picked up six ground balls herself while Connors forced a pair of miscues and finished with a trifecta of ground balls and a trio of draws.

The Buccaneers (3-7, 0-4 MASCAC) were paced by senior Hillary Doucette (Manchester, MA) and sophomore Janine Prokscha (Washington, CT) each scored two goals while first-year Stephanie O'Connor (Westwood, MA) dished out an assist for the hosts.

Freshman Cassandra Charpentier (New Bedford, MA) distinguished herself on the back line with a team-best five ground balls. Classmate Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, MA) added four draws and three ground balls for her club.

WSU freshman Lea Robichaud (Holden, MA) picked up the win in goal for Worcester State with six first half saves as fellow first-year teammate Krissy Pessa (Walpole, MA) made one stop over the final 30 minutes of action for the visitors.  Sophomore Molly Smith (Westwood, MA) made 16 saves in her first collegiate start in net for Massachusetts Maritime and recorded eight ground balls.

The Lancers outshot the Buccaneers by a 39-15 margin and held a 17-7 edge in draw controls for the match.

Kilday and Chase both moved into ninth and tenth on WSU's All-Time scoring list as they are just two and four points away from 100 for their respective careers.

Grassetti's four points helped her become the 20th student-athlete to join the 50 point club.
