Connors Selected ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Week

Centerville, MA --- Sophomore Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) has been named ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Week for her tremendous performance in a 3-0 stretch for Worcester State.

Connors collected 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists to go with 13 draw controls, five ground balls and five caused turnovers.

After starting off the week with five markers and three helpers in a 15-4 victory over Colby-Sawyer last Monday, she continued her torrid streak with two goals, a pair of assists and six draws in a 15-9 win over Salem State. Connors finished things off with five tallies, four helpers and a trio of forced miscues in a 14-9 triumph over Fitchburg State on Saturday.

Her incredible three contest performance allowed Connors to move into third place on WSU's all-time scoring list with 151 points off of 89 goals and 62 assists in just 33 career games.

In 14 starts at midfield, Connors has registered the second-most point total in the MASCAC (74) while she is also third in the league in assists (32), fifth in both goals (42) and draws (49). Her 16 forced miscues are tied for sixth among the conferences defenders.

Connors tied the Worcester State single-season mark for assists with WSU Hall of Famer Ann Clark that was set in 2007 while she is just seven draw controls away from the rookie record she set last season, which is third-most in a single campaign.

Earlier on Monday morning, Connors was also recognized as the MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the first time this season.

The Lancers (11-3) have claimed the second seed and a first-round bye in this week's MASCAC Tournament. The Blue and Gold will entertain the winner of the third-seeded Westfield State and #6 Framingam State quarterfinal matchup tonight at 7 PM.
