Connors, Grassetti Capture ECAC New England Women's Lacrosse All-Star Honors

Centerville, MA --- Sophomore Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) and junior Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, MA) have both been recently recognized as ECAC Division III New England All-Stars as announced by Director of New Media and Digital Communications Geoff Lopes.

Both were instrumental in helping lead Worcester State to a 13-5 record, which tied the single-season victory mark set last year while the club made appearances in the MASCAC Championship game and the ECAC Division III New England Tournament title contest.

The pair were recognized on the Second-team as they join former standouts Shannon Feeley (2009) and Ann Clark (2007, 06) who both earned ECAC All-Star laurels during their careers.

Connors was a force offensively and defensively in her second full season at midfield. She finished the season ranked second in the MASCAC in points (86), third in assists (38), fifth in goals (48) and draw controls (60) while she was one of 10 in the league with at least 15 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls.

Her assists shattered a record held by Clark, who was recently inducted into the Lancer Hall of Fame in October, and her point sum is the fourth highest single-season total in program history.

Connors is just 21 helpers off from becoming the career leader in the category as she moved into third on the All-time scoring list with 95 goals and 68 assists for 163 points. With an incredible 116 draws in just two seasons, Connors has averaged 3.14 over the course of 37 career games.

Grassetti earns the nod with some of the best defensive players in the region. She wrapped up her campaign with 48 ground balls – the fifth highest total in the conference – to go with 49 draw controls and 16 forced miscues.

Her efforts on the back line also helped anchor a defense that caused the second-most turnovers in the MASCAC (134) and the third lowest goals against average in the league (10.44).

Grassetti did a fine job on offense with 18 goals and 13 assists as she moved into 15th on WSU's All-time scoring list. She led the club with nine free possession markers and in three seasons she has become the programs career leader with 148 ground balls.

Under the direction of eighth year head coach Deb Draper, Worcester State ended the season with a 5-1 mark in league play, which was good for second place and a first-round bye in the MASCAC Tournament.
