Women's Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Division III Academic Honors

Grand Lake, CO --- The Worcester State women's lacrosse was one of 125 institutions to be recognized with 2014 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Squad laurels as announced by executive director Gothard Lane.

The Lancers were one of 30 teams from New England to be lauded for posting over a 3.0 grade point average for the full academic year to earn all-academic recognition for the first time under eighth-year head coach Deb Draper. Fitchburg State was the only other MASCAC institution to receive prestigious accolades.

Earlier in July, 12 out of 18 on the women's lacrosse roster were selected to the MASCAC All-Academic Team for carrying a semester-based or cumulative GPA above a 3.2.

Tying for the second-most honored in the conference, the Lancers carried a 3.24 GPA for the 2013-14 academic year led by repeat MASCAC All-Academic selections, sophomore Kaila Chase (Northbridge, MA), second-year Katelyn Murphy (Billerica, MA) and junior Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, MA).

This past spring, Worcester State tied their school record for wins in a season (13), they were the runners-up in the MASCAC Tournament and lost to Curry in a closely contested ECAC Division III New England Championship game.
