Westfield, MA --- Seniors Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, MA) and Jackie Lawlor (Westford, MA) along with junior teammates Kaila Chase (Northbridge, MA), Jackie Connors (Ashland, MA) and Katelyn Murphy (Billerica, MA) were all named to the All-MASCAC team in a vote by the leagues head coaches earlier this week as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.

Chase, Connors and Lawlor all were recognized with First-team laurels while Grassetti and Murphy earned Second-team plaques.

Tying for the third-most points in the MASCAC with 75, Chase has had a remarkable junior campaign at attack with 58 goals and 15 assists. In addition to picking up 41 ground balls, Chase registered 21 of her points, 16 for goals, against conference opponents.

With her stellar efforts, Chase moved into third on the all-time goals list and she is 14 away from tying second place. Chase is also fourth on WSU's scoring list with 198 points to her credit (154 goals - 44 assists).

Connors nabs her third consecutive First-team accolade for stellar play in the midfield as she compiled great all-around totals of 40 goals, 23 assists, 50 ground balls to go with team-bests of 75 draw controls and 32 caused turnovers. Among MASCAC leaders, Connors is second in forced miscues, third in draws, fifth in assists, sixth in ground balls and tenth in goals.

After establishing the single-season record for helpers last year (38), Connors is one draw away from shattering the campaign mark currently held by Lancer Hall of Famer Ann Clark and set in 2006. Connors set the career assist record with her 90th dish in a win over Mass Maritime and she is 31 points of tying second on the all-time scoring list.

Grassetti earned her third distinction on the All-MASCAC squad. As a defensive midfielder, she put up solid numbers with 45 ground balls and 58 draws to go with 20 goals and nine assists offensively. Her draws were fifth in the conference while she picked up the ninth most ground balls overall.

Her 29 points put her just six away from the 100 mark for her career as seven of her markers on the year have come from the eight-meter line.

Lawlor concludes her career with her fourth straight all-conference recognition. As a line defender, she notched 22 points (12 goals) to go with 33 ground balls, eight draws and 13 caused turnovers.

For the second consecutive year, Murphy led the squad in ground balls (53) and she was second in caused turnovers with 29. En-route to her third All-MASCAC honor at defense, her forced miscues were third in the conference and she was fifth in ground balls.

Grassetti, Murphy and Lawlor propelled a back line that limited opponents to a 9.45 goals against average and topped the league in caused turnovers to set a new program standard (192).

The Lancers (13-5), who captured the fourth seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament, will take on top-seeded Westfield State later this evening at 7 PM. The Blue and Gold will try to set a new mark for wins in a single campaign.
