WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's lacrosse team is set to host a "One Love" game on Thursday, April 6 as they take on Rhode Island College in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
The "One Love" game is dedicated to Yeardley Love, a senior lacrosse player at the University of Virginia who was killed by her ex-boyfriend in an act of domestic violence. The foundation was created in honor of her, and to raise awareness about relationship violence.
In order to show awareness, the Worcester State University women's lacrosse team has been tracking their "Yards for Yeardley". The Lancers have currently have reached their goal of a million yards per person.
The Worcester State community has the opportunity to support this cause tomorrow by keeping track of their steps, and recording the distance at a table setup inside Sheehan Hall. The team will tally up the distance at the end of the day, and will announce the total yardage at the game. Also, at halftime of the game, the fans and community are welcomed to add to the total yardage by taking a walk around the track to support the cause.
Also at the game, there will be a "Lob for Love" event (similar to "Chuck a puck"), where fans will have a chance to throw tennis balls onto the field, ultimately aiming for a flag on the field. The tennis ball that is closest to the flag, will receive a prize (CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN).
Tennis balls can purchased at the table outside the field ($1 per ball, $3 for 5). All proceeds will be donated to the "One Love" Foundation.

In addition to the "One Love" game, the Lifetime Lancers group is hosting a home team rally and will provide Worcester State alumni and students with a voucher for free food and drink, if they sign up at http://alumni.worcester.edu/hometeam17 by the end of the day, today (April 5).
