1ST HALF

The Colonials opened the game with a staggering 5-0 run as the contest appeared headed for a lopsided margin. However, Worcester State systematically chiseled away the advantage, setting up a breathtaking last second finish. The Lancers would cut the deficit to 5-3 before WestConn answered with a pair of scoring strikes to make it 7-3 at the break.

2ND HALF

The Lancers opened the second half with a three-goal spurt, slicing the gap to 7-6. The Colonials responded with goals from Brook Baldelli (New Fairfield, Conn.) and rookie midfielder Molly Morrison (Bow, N.H.) to extend the lead to 9-6 with just under five minutes remaining. Moments later, Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.) found the back of the net with 3:42 left on the clock. She then took a nifty feed from rookie Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) and tickled the twine, cutting the advantage to one-goal yet again with just over a minute remaining. With four seconds to go Worcester had a chance at the equalizer on a free position shot. However, it sailed just wide as time expired.
