WORCESTER, Mass. – Three Worcester State University women's lacrosse players have been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams, as announced by the league Tuesday (May 8) afternoon.
Seniors Mackenzie Little (Marlborough, Mass.) and Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.) were named to the First Team, while freshman defender Lauren Arbec (Fairhaven, Mass.) was named to the Second Team.
Little led the Lancers in draw controls with a Worcester State single season record-high 108 draws, averaging a record high 5.68 draws per game. She also compiled 40 goals (10 on free position shots), and nine assists offensively. Defensively, she picked up 36 ground balls and caused 26 turnovers. She finished her career at Worcester State at second in the all-time career draw controls category with 208.
Vecchiarelli was the team-leader in goals (48), assists (23), points (71) and free position shots (12-24) this season. She stood at fourth in the MASCAC in goals, and fifth in the MASCAC in assists. Defensively, Vecchiarelli registered 23 ground balls and caused eight turnovers for the Blue and Gold. She completed her career at Worcester State fifth on the all-time point list with 132 goals, 72 assists for 204 points.
Arbec recorded 46 ground balls, won one draw control, and recorded a team-high 37 caused turnovers for the Lancers. She stood at second in the conference in caused turnovers. Offensively, she tallied one goal on the season.
Westfield State's junior goalie, Maria Woodall (Norfolk, Mass.), was tabbed the player of the year, while freshman midfielder, Casey Sullivan (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) was named the women's lacrosse conference rookie of the year. Westfield State's Jeff Pechulis was the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year for helping the Owls to the MASCAC Regular Season Championship and the top spot in the MASCAC tournament.
