Vecchiarelli Earns MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Accolade

WORCESTER, Mass.Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's lacrosse player of the week, as announced by the league Monday (Mar. 26) afternoon.

 

The senior attack registered 16 points on 11 goals and five assists with six ground balls and a caused turnover in a 2-1 week for the Lancers.

 

"Alexis has been a game-changer and impacted our offense tremendously this season," commented head coach Kelly Downs

 

She scored five goals with an assist and four ground balls in the 16-14 win over Western New England University, had two goals, including the eventual game-winner, and two assists with a ground ball in the come-from-behind 13-10 win over Calvin College. She then tallied a game-high four goals and two assists enroute to her 100th career goal in the 9-8 setback to Western Connecticut State University.

 

"This past week she scored her 100th career goal which is a direct result of her hard work and dedication to the women's lacrosse program," said Downs. "I look forward to seeing her accomplish big thing throughout the rest of the season."

 

The women's lacrosse team opens up at home on Thursday (Mar. 29) as they host Curry College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
