Vecchiarelli Named MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's senior women's lacrosse student-athlete Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's lacrosse player of the week, as announced by the league Monday (Apr. 30) afternoon.

 

This past week, Vecchiarelli netted six goals and four assists for 10 points plus three ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. She scored four goals and added an assist in the 9-7 win over Fitchburg State then added two goals and three assists with two ground balls in the 13-6 win over Salem State on Saturday.

 

"She has been a huge threat to our offense this season," commented head coach Kelly Downs. "She is very well deserving of this weekly honor."

 

The women's lacrosse team concluded the regular season on Saturday and earned the No. 4 seed in the MASCAC tournament.  The tournament begins on Tuesday (May 1) as the Lancers host No. 5 Fitchburg State in a 6 p.m. matchup at Coughlin Field.
