Women's Lacrosse Conquers Fighting Scots

WORCESTER, Mass.- Fourteen first half goals launches Worcester State University women's lacrosse to a 16-7 win over Gordon College on Monday afternoon at John F. Coughlin field.

With the win, the Lancers improves to 9-4 on the season. Gordon falls to 4-12 overall.

The opening half was full of action as the Lancers recorded fourteen goals in the half. Gordon freshman Brenna Otte (Grand Rapids, Mich.) opened up the scoring 50 seconds into the game, but the Lancers answered back quickly. Madison Brennan (Pomfret, Conn.) recorded two goals within 17 seconds of each other and capping her hat trick, which put Worcester State up 4-1. Worcester State's scoring continued when they scored nine straight, highlighted by Kelly Austin's (Brimfield, Mass.) hat trick and one assist. The Lancers finished off the half 14-3 when Ashley Perugini (Watertown, Conn.) netted a goal with just two seconds remaining.

The second half opened with Lena Larson (Fredericksburg, Va.) grabbing three straight goals for Gordon College, but proved to be not enough. Kylie Hill's (Lunenburg, Mass.) second and third goal of the game came in the second half that sealed the 16-7 victory over the Fighting Scots.

Austing, Hill, and Brennan all notched three goals apiece in the Lancer victory. While Larson lead the charge for Gordon College tallying four goals. Chloe O'Brien (Sturbridge, Mass.) made three saves on ten shots in the win. Rebecca Resnick (Monroe, Conn.) grabbed four saves on fifteen shots before Annabel Christenson (Scituate, Mass.) took over and recorded two saves in the loss.

The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Fitchburg State at 7 p.m. The Fighting Scots head to Wentworth on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start.
