Macomber Earns MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week Nod

Westfield, MA --- Junior Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, MA) has been selected as this week's MASCAC Player of the Week for her sensational performance in a key conference win over Salem State over the weekend.

Macomber netted both goals in a 2-0 triumph over the Vikings to help keep the Lancers unbeaten with a 5-0 record in conference play in their lone contest of the week.

On the season, Macomber has posted some outstanding numbers as she is fifth in the conference in both goals (11) and points (25) while she is also third in the league with six helpers. Her other two game-winners on the campaign have included the go-ahead goal against crosstown rival WPI and another in a MASCAC win against MCLA.

With 60 career points to her credit (24 goals – 12 assists), Macomber went from 11th to tie for ninth on Worcester State's all-time scoring list with former teammate Gaby Gonet (2010-13). She is just seven points away from earning a spot among the top five leaders in WSU women's soccer scoring history.

The honor for Macomber is her second on the campaign as she earned weekly conference laurels for netting her first collegiate hat-trick against RIC on September 8.

The Blue and Gold have two games in the next week starting with a trip to Colby Sawyer on Wednesday at 3 PM before taking on Westfield State on Saturday at home on "Senior Day" (12 PM) in what could determine the top seed in the upcoming MASCAC Tournament.
