Macomber Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Junior Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, MA) has been tabbed MASCAC Player of the Week for her outstanding efforts in a victory over Westfield State this past Saturday.

With the score tied up 1-1, Macomber netted two goals in a span of 39 seconds during the second half to help secure a 4-1 triumph over Westfield State and help the Lancers remain unbeaten in conference play.

With her third MASCAC Player of the Week honor, Macomber has had a remarkable season for Worcester State and has been instrumental in their success this fall.

She is currently fifth in the MASCAC in tallies (13) and points (32) while her six helpers are sixth in the conference overall. Among single-season leaders at WSU, she is just three away from tying the goals record held by Vanessa Vallee (1998) and she is a trio of points off the mark that was set by Vallee in 1998 and Melissa Crowley in 1993.

Macomber is now seventh on the all-time scoring list with 26 goals and 12 assists to her credit for 64 points. With four points, she would move into the top five all-time scorers in program history.

The Blue and Gold (11-3, 6-0 MASCAC) have two games in the next week starting with UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday at 7 PM before ending their regular season with a conference matchup against Fitchburg State at 10 AM on Saturday.
