Worcester State Women’s Soccer Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Awards

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s Kaitlin Beluzo (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Maddie Fong (Norton, Mass.) have been selected the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women’s soccer player and rookie of the week, respectively, as announced by the league Monday (Sep. 18) afternoon.

 

Worcester State’s sophomore forward, Beluzo, tallied five goals for a total of 10 points in a 3-0 week for the Lancers. She netted a hat-trick in the 3-0 shutout over WPI. She then recorded a goal in the 3-0 win over Becker College and then registered her third game-winner of the week in the 4-0 conference victory over MCLA.

 

Beluzo currently leads the conference in goals (5), points (11), and game-winning goals (3). She is second in the conference in shots with 21.

 

Fong, a freshman midfielder for the Blue and Gold, scored on goal and assisted two this past week. She tallied one goal and an assist in the 4-0 league win over MCLA and recorded another assist in the 3-0 shutout over WPI earlier in the week.

 

The women’s soccer team resumes play on Wednesday (Sep. 20) when they travel to Gordon for a 7 p.m. matchup.
