Offensive Player of the Year Maldonado Highlights Three Women's Soccer All-MASCAC Selections

WESTFIELD, Mass.Ali Maldonado (Rutland, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, highlighting three All-Conference Selections for the Worcester State University women’s soccer team. The announcement came from the conference office on Wednesday morning.

Maldonado, a sophomore forward, was named to the All-Conference First Team along with teammate Maddie Fong (Norton, Mass.), while freshman Hannah Foster (Worcester, Mass.) earned Second Team honors as a defender.

Maldonado was named Player of the Year after winning the MASCAC Player of the Week award twice this season. She finished the year with 23 points which was tied for the team lead and good for second in the conference. Maldonado’s nine goals put her in a tie for third most in the conference and she led the MASCAC with 77 shots in her first season on the Lancers.

Fong, a sophomore midfielder, scored five goals and added two assists this season. This is Fong’s second consecutive season earning All-Conference recognition, as last season she was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Foster was one of only three freshmen to be named to either of the MASCAC All-Conference teams. Foster started all 17 of the games she played in and helped lead the Lancers to a 2.12 goals against average, the fourth best mark in the conference.

This trio helped lead the Lancers to a 10-7-1 overall record and a 7-0 record in the MASCAC, good for the number one seed in the conference tournament.
