Women's Soccer Blanks Mass Maritime

WORCESTER, Mass.- Worcester State University women's soccer team shut out Massachusetts Maritime Academy 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field in Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

With the win the Lancers advance to 2-4-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference pay. The Buccaneers fall to 1-6 overall, 0-1 in the MASCAC.

Ali Maldonado (Rutand, Mass.) had a hat trick during Saturday's game and the first saw the back of the net just six minutes into the game. The Lancer women held the ball in the Buccaneers territory for the majority of the game and five different Lancers found goals on the seven total throughout the game. Tsara LeBlanc (Gardner, Mass.) and Talia Borci (Worcester, Mass.) added to the 3-0 lead Worcester State had going into the half.

The second half opened up when Maldonado found her second goal of the day just 38 seconds into the half. Fiona Weir (Dorchester, Mass.) added to the team total when she sent one into the net just three minutes after Maldonado. Maldonado capped her hat trick on the day and Haley Samara (Worcester, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the Lancers.

Paige Albertson (Natucket, Mass.) stopped the ball ten times on 17 shots on goal in the loss for the Buccaneers. Tori Socci (Backstone, Mass.) saw no shots on goal in her time in net.

The Lancers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Keene State at 7 PM.
