How it Happened:
This match between the Woman's Soccer team and the MCLA Trailblazers started out strong with the Lancers scoring an early goal just over two minutes into the action, with sophomore Nora Wanamaker (Lancaster, MA) being the goalscorer. Not long after the first goal, the Lancers doubled down and put another one into the back of the net. This time it was number 13, junior Ava Lemanski (Clinton, MA). Keeping the action going, the Lancers established further dominance by putting a third goal in the back of the net. This marked a second goal of the match for number 25, Wanamaker. The game continued on with both teams playing with high intensity, however, it was clear that Worcester was the more dominant side with shots on target and constant pressure up the field. As with most of the half, the back-end of the first half continued to show Lancer dominance with them holding the ball and keeping possession, but also creating dangerous chances in front of the MCLA goal and keeping their defense on their toes. The last minute showed some MCLA fire, with them scoring a late first half goal, stunning the Lancers before halftime.
The second half began energetically, with Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA) scoring a goal not even 5 minutes in. Minutes after, Laners captain junior Jess Forbes (Clinton, MA) letting one fly right on goal. The attempt led to a goal kick and a Lancers freekick right after. Forbes got another chance on goal and only barely put it over the bar. 12 minutes into the second half, the Lancers managed to put another goal into the back of the net, this time scored by junior Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA). A few moments later, the Lancers scored a further goal, highlighting their effective dominance in this conference game. This time it was again Lemanski doing the honors. Even with this high score and the significant goal differential, the Lancers continued to press forward and create danger in front of goal, forcing the MCLA keeper to bring out her best performance. With only 15 minutes remaining in the match, the Lancers managed to put a 7th goal into the back of the net; first year Shaen Smith (Westfield, MA) being the goalscorer this time, scoring a beautiful long range goal. A few minutes later, senior Erin Condon (East Bridgewater, MA) buried one to make the score 8-1. In the 80th minute, the Lancers were awarded a penalty and scored it to extend the lead even further if the strong send of junior Sophie Farr (Princeton, MA). The game ended with the Lancers calmly and confidently possessing the ball and bringing the victory home.
