Holden, MA --- Highlighted by freshman Caroline Hall (Corona, CA) and sophomore Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, CA), Gordon took home five singles wins and two doubles matches to defeat Worcester State, 7-2, in non-conference women's tennis action this afternoon at Wachusett High School.

With the win the Fighting Scots up their record to 2-1 while the Lancers fall to 0-2 on the young season.

Hall and freshman Cindi Flynn (Sunset Beach, CA) won at first doubles, 8-1, while Yeaw teamed with rookie Lily Drescher (Reading, MA) for the 8-6 victory as the second seed. Then in solo play, Hall and Yeaw both won their respective matches at first and second singles in consecutive sets to help lead Gordon to the win.

Other winners for the Fighting Scots included Drescher at third singles, senior Jessie Dupre (N. Billerica, MA) at fifth singles and freshman Abby Caron (Bedford, NH) at sixth singles. Drescher and Dupre had to play extra matches against Megan Shepard (Middletown, CT) and senior Laura Sarkis (W. Springfield, MA), respectively, to earn the points.

Senior Brooke Michanczyk (Middletown, CT) was instrumental in helping the Lancers net both of their wins as she won her fourth flight matchup, 1-6, 7-6 (9-7) and 10-7 after posting the, 8-5, third-doubles victory with Sarkis.
