Women's Tennis Bounced By Bridgewater State In LEC Quarterfinals

 

Bridgewater, MA --- Bridgewater State senior Melissa Flynn (Stoneham, MA) and freshman Bojana Roman (Somerset, MA) posted victories in singles and doubles as the third-seeded Bears dispatched #6 Worcester State, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Little East Conference Tournament this afternoon at the Rosen Tennis Courts.

BSU (9-3) moves on to play second-seeded Rhode Island College on Tuesday in the semifinals at 2 PM. The Lancers finish up their fall campaign at 7-6.

Roman and junior Alison Vautrin (Somerset, MA) paired for the 8-3 win over junior Cassandra Goncalves (Ludlow, MA) and freshman Rachel Green (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) at second doubles before Flynn and freshman Alison Silva (Taunton, MA) teamed for the 8-5 victory over junior Megan Shepard (Middletown, CT) and sophomore Shelby Jankins (W. Brookfield, MA) at the top seed.

Senior Rachel Eramo (Rowley, MA) and freshman Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, MA) followed by besting freshman Faina Volf (Sharon, MA) and freshman Alexis Silk (Greenfield, MA), 8-4, at third doubles.

Flynn defeated Goncalves at fourth singles and Roman defeated junior Paige Moriarty (Feeding Hills, MA) in the sixth-singles matchup to clinch the win.
