Women’s Tennis Powers Through Becker College, 9-0

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University tennis team swept both singles and doubles to dominate a 9-0 win over the host, Becker College, in an afternoon match played at the Leicester Middle School tennis courts.

THE MATCH
Worcester State began the day dominating doubles play as duos of Nathalie Khafaga (Auburn, Mass.) and Isabel Badeau (Cumberland, R.I.), Rachel Green (Worcester, Mass.) and Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.), and Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) and Marisa Lombardi (Ludlow, Mass.) all swept their opponents by scores of 8-0. This marks Collings, Alves, and Lombardi's first collegiate doubles victory.

Worcester State saw the same result in singles play as Khafaga, Alexis Silk (Greenfield, Mass.), Green, Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.), and Victoria Konicki (Auburn, Mass.) downed their opponents by scores of 6-0, 6-0. The closest match of the day came at No. 1 singles, where Lauren Taylor (Attleboro, Mass.) defeated Becker's Jacqueline Andrade 6-0, 6-1.

 

UP NEXT
Worcester State returns to the courts on Saturday, September 16 when they host Plymouth State in their first Little East Conference (LEC) matchup of the year. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start at the Clark tennis courts.
