Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season with 6-2 Loss to Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Worcester State University women's tennis team dropped its regular season finale to Rhode Island College Anchormen by a score of 6-2 in a Sunday afternoon Little East Conference (LEC) matchup.

THE MATCH

The Anchorwomen went 2-1 against the Lancers in doubles. Rhode Island College's Katherine Braganca (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, R.I.) defeated Alexis Silk (Greenfield, Mass.) and Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) at the No. 2 flight while Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) and Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) edged Rachel Green (Worcester, Mass.) and Marisa Lombardi (Ludlow, Mass.) at the No. 3 spot. Worcester's Nathalie Khafaga (Auburn, Mass.) and Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) saw the sole Lancers win at No. 1 doubles.

 

Rhode Island College pulled away from the Lancers and concluded the contest with four singles wins at the No. 1, 2, 5, and 6 slots. The Anchorwomen's Hailey Raskbob (North Smithfield, Mass.) clinched the match at the No. 5 spot when she defeated Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) 6-1, 6-0. Worcester State's sole single win came at No. 3 when Alves downed Braganca 6-0, 6-2.
