WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's tennis team has earned the No. 5 spot in the Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis tournament which is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Oct. 17).
The women's tennis team wrapped up the 2017 fall season with an 8-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the league. Worcester State's Alexis Silk (Greenfield, Mass.) and Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) led the Lancers in the regular season as they marked 10-3 and 9-1 singles records, respectively, and as doubles partners went 4-1.
Rhode Island College was tabbed the regular season champions after completing the season undefeated in the league. UMass Dartmouth was the other team to earn a bye as they earned the No. 2 seed with a 6-2 conference record.
The first round of the tournament will be held tomorrow (Oct. 17) as No. 6 UMass Boston will travel to No. 3 Bridgewater State, and No. 5 Worcester State will travel to No. 4 Plymouth State. The semifinals will be held on Thursday (Oct. 19), while the championship is scheduled for Saturday (Oct. 21) at the highest remaining seed's courts.

Per the sport code, both ties were broken via head-to-head competition. UMass Dartmouth defeated Bridgewater State 5-4 on Sept. 26, and Plymouth State defeated Worcester State 7-2 on Sept. 16.
