Worcester State Women’s Tennis Earns All-Academic Team Award; Six Earn Individual Scholar-Athlete Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Worcester State University women’s tennis team earned the 2018 ITA All-Academic Team Award as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.  The team also had six student-athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete awards by virtue of their strong performance in the classroom.  The Team Award is based upon a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.2 for the full academic year.  The Lancers posted a lofty 3.42 as a team.  In all, 735 teams and 4.328 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored.

Earning individual honors for Worcester State for their excellence in the classroom were seniors Alexis Silk (Greenfield, MA) and Rachel Green (Worcester, MA) as well as first years Dominique Alves (Ludlow, MA), Emma Collings (Marion, MA), Victoria Konicki (Auburn, MA) and Monika Mularski (Auburn, MA).  Scholar-Athlete honors go to students who achieved at a 3.5 GPA or higher during the 2017-2018 academic year.

The entire women’s tennis roster contributed to the team achievement as all members were named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic team this spring earning at least a 3.2 for the semester.
