Alves Named Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman tennis player, Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis rookie of the week, as announced by the league Monday (Sep. 25) afternoon.

 

Alves went undefeated at both doubles and singles in a 2-0 week of confer­ence play for Worcester State. In Worcester State's first-ever win over UMass Dartmouth, Alves was an 8-3 victor at the No. 3 doubles flight and was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles. Alves then earned an 8-1 doubles win and a 6-1, 6-1 singles win against UMass Boston.

 

"Dominique has been a great addition to our roster this season," mentioned head coach Courteney Blais. "With her steady singles play and strategic doubles game, we are lucky to have such an awesome student-athlete."

 

Alves is currently 4-0 in singles play, and 3-2 in doubles play thus far this season.

 

"I am excited for her first season as a Lancer, and I look forward to a bright future," concluded Blais.

 

The women's tennis team has a busy week as they are on the road at Western Connecticut, Roger Williams, and Southern Maine on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, respectively.
