Women's Tennis Slides Past Wentworth

WESTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's tennis team won all three doubles matches on Saturday afternoon en route to a 7-2 win over Wentworth in non-conference action at the Regis Tennis Center.

With the win, the Lancers improve to 1-0 on the young season, while Wentworth drops to 0-1.

Junior Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, Mass.) got the afternoon started off strong for the Lancers, pulling out a perfect 8-0 win at second doubles to give Worcester State a 1-0 lead. Juniors Bekah Riley (Ellington, Conn.) and Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) were victorious at third doubles, and Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) and Lauren Taylor (Attleboro, Mass.) grabbed a win at first doubles to put the Lancers ahead 3-0.  In exhibition doubles, Emily Costa (Dudley, Mass.) and Alyson Langhorst (Natick, Mass.) also picked up a win.

Mularski and Collings picked up quick wins at fourth and third singles to secure the victory for the Lancers. Taylor and junior Victoria Konicki (Auburn, Mass.) also both won singles matches for the Lancers.

Worcester State will be right back in action on Sunday with a match at Nichols. Doubles play will begin at 12 p.m.
