Women's Tennis Blanked by Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Worcester State University women's tennis team was blanked 7-0 by Rhode Island College Saturday afternoon in Little East Conference action at the LEC Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Worcester State drops to 2-3 overall and suffers its first loss in LEC play, falling to 1-1.

Rhode Island College was dominant in doubles play to open the day, winning 8-0 at both first and second doubles. Worcester State juniors Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) and Bekah Riley (Ellington, Conn.) managed four points at the third doubles position, but the Anchorwomen proved too much to handle.

Rhode Island College secured the victory by winning the first four matches in singles play before the rain came and cut the match short.

Next up for the Lancers, Worcester State will end its lengthy season-opening road trip at Clark University on Thursday. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m.
