Women's Tennis Clipped by UMass Boston

BOSTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's tennis fell just shy of a victory on Saturday afternoon, falling to UMass Boston 5-4 in Little East Conference action at the Boston College High School Tennis Courts.

With the loss, the Lancers slip to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in the LEC.

Sophomore Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, Mass.) and junior Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) claimed Worcester State's lone doubles win on the afternoon, winning 8-2 at second doubles. Losses at first and third doubles however saw the Lancers trailing 2-1 entering singles play.

Mullane picked up her second win of the day in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 decision in the fifth position, while juniors Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) and Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) also grabbed wins, but ultimately the Lancers fell short after the teams split the six singles matches.

Worcester State will return to the courts on Wednesday to host Castleton at 3:30 p.m. from Wachusett Regional High School.
