Women's Tennis Earns Little East Team Academic Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Worcester State University women's tennis team has been announced as one of the Little East Conference's inaugural Team Academic Award recipients.

The LEC Team Academic Award is given to the team with the highest grade point average in the current academic year among each of the league's 19 championship sport offerings. The awards were determined by Fall 2019 semester grades only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Worcester State women's tennis earned a cumulative GPA of 3.55 in the fall semester for the highest mark in the LEC. On the court, the team went 9-6 on the season, earning the fourth seed in the LEC Tournament.

"I am incredibly proud of our women's tennis program for being the inaugural recipient of the Little East's Team Academic Award," said Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd. "They had one of the program's strongest seasons in recent history on the court, but their hard work in the classroom is what truly matters the most."
