WORCESTER, Mass. - Brittany Rende will be the next head coach of the Worcester State University women’s tennis team, as announced by the University’s Director of Athletics Michael Mudd on Wednesday afternoon.
Rende takes over for Stephen Ferris, who leaves Worcester State after two seasons. Ferris led the Lancers to a mark of 15-15 during his tenure, including a 9-6 record a season ago.
Rende had a successful tennis career in high school, serving as a two year captain for Sayville High School in West Sayville, N.Y. She was a member at the Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, N.Y.
Rende attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., earning her bachelor’s degree in international relations and history in 2012. In 2019, she received her Master of Education degree from Fitchburg State University.
Rende also serves as Worcester State’s Intramural Coordinator and Assistant Sports Information Director, roles she stepped into for the University in the fall of 2018.
“I am very excited to become the next head coach of Worcester State women’s tennis,” said Rende. “I look forward to working with this group of young women and building a culture of success in the program.”
“I’m beyond pleased to have Brittany taking over as head coach of our women’s tennis program,” said Mudd. “She is known around our campus for her extremely positive attitude, and I believe she will bring great energy and enthusiasm to the tennis team.”
