Worcester, MA --- Senior Mark Johnson and
sophomore Andrea Ouellette have each been named
MASCAC Track Athletes of the Week after their performances this
past weekend at the Tufts Invitational.
Johnson, a native of Woburn, MA, who was tabbed as the Male Track
Athlete of the Week, placed second in the 55 meter run (6.68) and
fourth in the 200 (23.16) and he helped the 4x400 relay team notch
fourth at the meet. Johnson also scored 20 of the team’s 40
points en route to their sixth place finish at the meet.
Johnson improved his 55 time slightly and posted the second best
finish in the 200 after he qualified for the Division III New
England Regional’s both events at the first meet of the
season at the Smith Invitational in December.
Ouellette, who hails from Salisbury, MA, who was honored as the
Female Field Athlete of the Week, won her second triple jump title
(33-09.25) this season and placed eighth in the long jump
(14-10.00). Ouellette tallied her second highest finish in the
triple this season after she also beat the standard for the
postseason at the New England Regional’s.
The Women’s team finished in fourth place in their first
scoring meet of the season.
Freshman Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) also
received the nod on the honor roll after she took sixth in the 55
(7.68) and ninth in the 200 (27.89) while also running a leg of the
4x400 relay team’s fourth place finish (4:30.66), just 15
seconds off the lead.
The Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field team will
compete again this Saturday at Boston University.
