Deininger Selected MASCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Senior Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) has been recognized as this week's MASCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her standout contributions this past weekend at the Tufts Invitational.

Deininger took home the top 60 meter hurdle time (9.24) and recorded seventh in the 60 meters (8.28) for the Lancers, who placed fourth at the meet. As of this past week, Deininger's 60 meter hurdle split at Tufts is fifth in the Division III New England rankings and it is tied for the 11th fastest time in the nation.

After coming close to earning a chance to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in each of the last two campaigns, Deininger hopes to qualify for the national meet in her final indoor season.

She just missed the cut during her sophomore year with the 16th best 60 meter hurdles time and current school record (8.94) while her split last season was tied for the 21st lowest in Division III. This year the NCAA rules committee expanded the women's championship field to the top 17 individuals in each event and the top 12 relays.

Deininger, however, has been a participant at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in each of the last two years in the 100 meter hurdles and she has been the lead leg on the 4x100 meter relay.

The Lancers will continue their indoor campaign next week at the Springfield Invitational.
