Deininger Selected MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Westfield, MA --- In three out of the last four weeks, senior Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) has been tabbed MASCAC Female Track Athlete of the Week for her stellar efforts this past weekend at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

In a deep field of regional student-athletes from all three divisions, Deininger placed 23rd in the 60 meter hurdles (9.15) and 38th in the 60 meters (8.08). Her 60 meter hurdles split put her in a tie for the 24th-best time nationally and was the second-fastest time for a Division III competitor at the meet.

Entering the week of the MASCAC/Alliance Championships this weekend, Deininger is in a three-way tie for the fifth fastest 60 meter hurdles time in New England with junior Peyton Dostie (Standish, ME) of Southern Maine and senior Jacklin Konopka (Novi, MI) of MIT.

The 60 meter sprint she clocked at Boston University is tied for 18th regionally and it's third-fastest among Alliance individuals.

Deininger will try to defend her MASCAC/Alliance crown in the 55 meter hurdles this Saturday at Southern Maine. She also comes into the meet as the three-time champion in the MASCAC in the event as she reset the meet and school record during her sophomore campaign (8.39).
