Medford, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) registered four top eight individual performances  - including second place in the long jump (16-2/4.93 meters) as she helped pace Worcester State to eighth at the Tufts Invitational this afternoon.

The Lancers netted 46 points as a team at the meet which featured 15 collegiate teams in attendance. Out of three MASCAC schools present, WSU had the highest point total.

Jasper also notched fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.65) before sprinting to the fourth-best time in the trials (9.59). After she tied for the seventh spot in the preliminaries of the 60 (8.15), Jasper ended the finals in seventh (8.18) while also recording sixth in the shot put (36-4/11.08m).

Other strong performances included junior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, MA) was the runner-up in the high jump (5-1.75/1.57m) as the 4x200 meter relay team of junior Nichole Tillery (Auburn, MA), senior Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA), sophomore Aliya-Marie Melville (Worcester, MA/South) and Jasper teamed for fourth overall (1:52.60).

The other two relay teams wrapped up the meet by scoring points.

Junior Dalena Le (Worcester, MA/Doherty), Melville, junior Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, MA) along with McMahon finished seventh in the 4x400 (4:21.42) while the 4x800 meter squad of freshman Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, MA), senior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA), freshman Rachel Lauzon (Carver, MA) and sophomore Danielle Cote (Dighton, MA) crossed the line in ninth (11:18.84).  

Melville and senior Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) marked seventh (14-10/4.52m) and eighth (14-8.75), respectively, in the long jump and McMahon added eighth in the 400 meters (1:03.25).

Sophomore Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, MA) tossed sixth in the weight throw and junior Molly Downing (Dedham, MA) had a personal-best eighth in the same event. Junior Hanna Carson (Natick, MA) placed eighth in the shot put.

Next week the Lancers compete at the Springfield Invitational.
