Northampton, MA --- Highlighted by the 4x200 meter relay, the Worcester State women's indoor track team placed 17th overall at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Smith.

Including to senior Alyssa Jasper's (Rockland, MA) eight points from her runner-up finish in the pentathlon yesterday, the Lancers tallied 14 team points overall for the second-highest sum among MASCAC institutions at the competition. MIT took home first with 151 points followed by Williams (86) and Wesleyan (58).

The relay of junior Dalena Le (Worcester, MA/Doherty) along with senior classmates Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA), Jasper and senior Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) put up a season-best time of 1:46.35 in the event as it also marked the sixth time in the last seven years a 4x200 team has scored and earned Division III New England accolades at the indoor meet.

Hodgerney added 13th in the 200 meters (26.70), McMahon clocked 10th in the 60 meter hurdles (6.44) and junior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, MA) tied for 10th in the high jump (4-11/1.50 meters) before adding 26th in the triple jump (31-8.75/9.67m).

Senior Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) had a leap of 11th in the long jump (16-9.75/5.12m) and she tacked on 15th in the 60 meter hurdles (9.70) while junior Maddie Benson (Attleboro, MA) was right behind in 21st (9.81).

The 4x400 meter relay of Le, junior Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, MA), Hodgerney and McMahon timed 13th (4:12.31), just six seconds off of scoring.

Freshman Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, MA), classmate Rachel Lauzon (Carver, MA), sophomore Danielle Cote (Dighton, MA) and first-year Danielle Bavoux (Medway, MA) helped the 4x800 relay notch 19th with a season-best time of 10:34.57, shaving 15 seconds off last week's All-MASCAC performance.
