Women’s Indoor Track & Field Marks Third Place Finish at MASCAC Championship

PLYMOUTH, N.H. –The women's indoor track & field team took a third place finish in the MASCAC Championship, and ninth in the Alliance Championship which included teams from the Little East Conference (LEC).

 

Hanna Carson (Natick, Mass.) and Molly Downing (Dedham, Mass.) both marked second place finishes in their respective events of shot put and weight throw. Carson recorded a finals distance of 12.06m, while Downing had a top throw of 14.65m.

 

Senior Francesca Casasanta (Milford, Mass.) came in third place in the women's high jump with a distance of 1.58m. Casasanta also placed in the triple jump at fourth with a distance of 10.00m. Senior Dalena Le (Worcester, Mass.) topped Casasanta in the triple jump, by earning second place at 10.37m.

 

Danielle Cote (Dighton, Mass.) led the Lancers in the 600 Meter Run, finishing in 1:49.29 at fourth place, while freshman Kelsey Bedard (Leominster, Mass.) placed third in the 1000 Meter Run in a time of 3:25.58. Sophomore Justine Murdocca (Milford, Mass.) placed third in the 5000 Meter Run in a time of 20:30.51. Katerina Lucier (Portsmouth, RI) finished sixth in the 3000 Meter Run.

 

Emily Visconti (N. Reading, Mass.) and Nichole Tillery (Auburn, Mass.) tied for sixth place in the 600 Meter Dash with a time of 18.44. Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, Mass.) came in eighth in the 400 Meter Dash, Le came in sixth in the 200 Meter Run.

 

Worcester State's group of Tillery, Tsara LeBlanc (Gardner, Mass.), Visconti, and Le took a second place finish in the 4x200 Meter Relay in a time of 1:53.19.

 

Next weekend, those who qualified for Division III New England's will travel to Middlebury for those respective championships.
