Lancers See Top Performances from Danso, McCormack, and Moss at Maroon & White Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Worcester State women's indoor track & field team saw key performances from Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.), Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.), and Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.) on Saturday at the Springfield College Maroon & White Classic.

Following a second place spot in the 60 meter hurdle preliminaries, Worcester State's Danso came from behind and defeated Westfield State's Sabrina Pray in the finals by .17 seconds, registering a 9.45 finish.

"Abby is consistently getting better week after week," commented head coach Andrea Ouellette. "She's looking very strong heading into the post season which is exactly what we want to see as we get closer to the MASCAC/Alliance meet."

Both McCormack and Moss qualified for Division III New England's in their respective events at the Classic. McCormack took fourth place in the weight throw on a top throw of 14.03m. She also registered a ninth place finish out of 24 contestants in the shot put at 9.50m.

"Each week Liz is getting closer to that championship mark," said Ouellette. "It's just a matter of time before it happens for her."

Following McCormack's footsteps was junior Meg Rouillard (Barrington, N.H.) who marked a sixth place finish in the weight throw with a top throw of 12.23m.

Moss placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.52m to qualify for Division III New England's.

Freshman Rachel Stier (Mansfield, Mass.) claimed fifth place in the 400 meters in a time of 1:03.11, while Tete Thomas (Worcester, Mass.) placed 10th place in the same event (1:06.15).
