Women’s Track & Field Travels to MIT for Division III New England Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A group of Worcester State women's track & field team members traveled to MIT Saturday to compete in the Division III New England Championships.

 

Junior co-captain Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.) led the Lancers' way as she placed ninth in the 60 Meter Hurdles in a time of 9.50.

 

Worcester State's 4x200 Meter Relay captured 11th place out of 23 teams entered in the meet in a time of 1:51.90. The group included all freshmen: Elizabeth Charity (Sutton, Mass.), Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.), Lauren Waters (Mansfield, Mass.), and Doreen Buabeng (Worcester, Mass.).

 

The Lancers' 4x800 Meter Relay followed with an 18th place finish in a time of 10:22.03. The group consisted of Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.), Rachel Lauzon (Carver, Mass.), Courtney Guay (Londonderry, N.H.), and Elisabeth Olson (Wilmington, Mass.).

 

"The 4x800 meter had a great day," commented head coach Andrea Ouellette.  "The team marked a season best time, dropping 16 seconds from last weekend."

 

Freshman Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.) came in 14th place at 1.51m in the high jump.

 

Senior Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.) came in 17th in the weight throw with a throw of 12.94m.

 

Freshman Rachel Stier (Mansfield, Mass.) came in 19th place in the women's 400 Meters in a time of 1:02.20.

 

Worcester State doesn't have any automatic qualifiers to the All New England Championships, but will look to see if they need to fill the fields in the upcoming days.
